When people come to Taiwan, the first thing they think of is the delicious food we have.

Today I wanna introduce something that even Taiwanese might not know what this is...

So this is a kind of dessert called '' Lu-Dou-Suan 綠豆蒜 (Mung Bean Garlic)''. 

After a 4-hour drive from Taitung to Pingtung, this was our first stop.

It is located in Checheng Township.

When we arrived, there were actually a lot of people in front of the shop, waiting in the line.

We can choose either to-go, or eat inside.

Since we were so tired, we decided to sit down and enjoy this dessert.

Each bowl is only 35 NTD, and we can decide whether we want cold or hot.

We can also decide if we want to add in other different sweets.

For us, we decided to order the ''Mung Bean Garlic + Mung Bean''.

Since we were not a fond of eating too sweet, we asked to put some shaved-ice on top.

But if you have a sweet tooth, you should definitely try without the ice on top.

So it's basically a little gooey and actually doesn't look that appealing at first sight, but definitly worth eating.

Lu-Dou-Suan 綠豆蒜 (Mung Bean Garlic)

First of all this dessert actually originated in Checheng and Hengchun Township.

It was said that this was a kind of dessert served in the wedding banquets, it then became a famous dessert in the local areas.

So is there really garlic inside a dessert? The answer's NO.

This whole dessert is only made of Mung beans, then why does it have garlic inside the name?

Well, the answer is because these are all Mung beans without the outside cover, leavig only the inside of it, and it looks like garlics being smashed into small pieces.

That's how the name came from.
